Promoting the value of public policy support activities and their results

Promoting INRAE’s public policy support activities makes it possible to raise awareness of these activities carried out by INRAE’s scientific teams to public stakeholders and to facilitate stakeholders’ use of the scientific results.

Making public policy support activities visible

Public policy support activities are both diffuse and very present. They take a wide variety of forms: fundamental or targeted research to fill knowledge gaps for action, experimentation, data collection, production and banking systems, methodological development, expert appraisals, training, etc.

At the interface between science and public policy, they are in tune with the challenges of environmental, food and agricultural transitions. They also result in a wide range of outputs, including new knowledge from research work, publications, technical guides, training, methods and associated software support, etc.

Presenting the diversity of public policy activities illustrated by concrete cases carried out by INRAE scientists serves several purposes:

  • to demonstrate the public utility of the research conducted at INRAE,
  • to maintain and develop partnerships
  • to promote the scientists involved in public policy support,
  • to showcase the career opportunities offered by public policy support.

The beneficiaries of this work are both the scientific community and INRAE’s public partners. Scientists also need support to promote their own work and make it known to targets other than their ‘sponsor’.

The ‘beneficiary’ services of policy support, national or regional public services, INRAE’s partners and public policy stakeholders thus benefit from resources to find out more about the possible forms of support provided by INRAE scientists.
